Introductie
Video is een medium dat nog niet zoveel wordt ingezet binnen onderwijs instanties. Dit heeft onder andere als reden dat het veel tijd en geld kost om te produceren en vaak ontbreekt het aan kennis. Wat over het hoofd wordt gezien is dat op de lange termijn video vaak juist tijd en ruimte geeft. Het biedt de mogelijkheid aan studenten om zich beter voor te bereiden op colleges waardoor een last wegvalt bij docenten en begeleiders. Daarnaast kun je op een dieper niveau de stof benaderen.
Ik heb mij gespecialiseerd in video met betrekking tot onderwijs en help je graag op weg met het hele proces van nadenken over de toepassing binnen jouw college, tot oplevering van mooie video’s waar je hopelijk de komende jaren mee vooruit kunt.
Naast “normale” video’s ben ik ook groot voorstander van interactieve video, omdat interacties een grote invloed hebben op de betrokkenheid van studenten en daarmee ook de retentie van de video’s. Hierdoor worden de video’s leuker om te kijken en leer je ook nog eens meer.

Video specialist
The past three years I worked for the university of Leiden as their video specialist. There I built up a lot of experience in the didactical video field. The last year was spent entirely focused on developing videos for laboratory education and preparation.
Expertise
In samenwerking met SURF, Universiteit Leiden en LabBuddy en een team van professoren op het gebied van biofarmaceutische wetenschappen, geleid door Marjo de Graauw, heb ik uren gebrainstormd, interactieve video’s opgenomen en gemonteerd die dienen ter voorbereiding op praktische laboratoriumexperimenten en algemene labveiligheid voor studenten.

Educative content library
Naar aanleiding van het hierboven genoemde project, hebben we een enorme bibliotheek met onderwijs gerichte inhoud gecreëerd die gratis te gebruiken is voor educatieve doeleinden.

Interactive video – Western blot experiment
Here is an example of an interactive video that we made regarding the Western blot experiment. This video would follow after the students first watched all of the individual tutorial videos for the Western blot experiment. It served as an interactive and analytical recap of all that they had learned so far.

Why (interactive) video?
Preparation
Video helps students prepare for their practical activities. Meaning you often need less on-site support staff and can delve deeper into the content of your lesson when the students are prepared.Own pace and time
Video gives the option to learn at your own pace in your own time. It can be paused, played back and rewatched, until the student understands the material. It can also be watched after an activity as a recap.Eye for details
Video can explain processes and show details that normally wouldn't be perceived.Engagement
Interacitvity means more student engagement. Research has proven that adding interactive moments to your videos increases student engagement and retention of the material. It is also a great way to over-exaggerate mistakes, make students more aware of them and add some humor in the mix while doing it.Analytical skills
Interactivity can add an analytical layer when adding branching storylines, also refered to as moments of choice, to your video. This can help students see the impact of their actions and learn from their mistake.
